Golfers around the region are rejoicing as this mild weather has meant they haven’t had to put their clubs away quite yet.
And it’s busy today at Grand Valley Golf and Country club, as die hard golfers enjoy the warmer than normal weather.
General Manager Scott Merkir tells 570 News that in the 25 years he’s been with the course, it’s hard to think of a time when they were so busy at this time of year, “Usually at this time you get the warmer weather, but usually you have about 2 feet of snow on the ground, but for us to have lack of snowfall and then the warm weather has certainly has accommodated both the golfer and ourselves.”
He adds in the past they’ve had sporadic bits of warm weather before that had brought out die hard golfers, “But to have the weather that we’ve had on a consistent basis, we haven’t seen this in quite a while and we’ve owned the place for 25 years or so now, so we’re happy for it.”
Merkir says they were also very busy on Saturday and Tuesday, “You know people obviously know that snow is on the horizon, so they’re trying to get that last game in.”
And the weather is expected to change drastically starting Thursday night, into Friday.
