Another report of a prowler in an east end Kitchener neighbourhood has residents on edge.
Police are investigating at least 5 reports of a prowler in the area of Upper Mercer Street, which is just off Fairway, near Zeller Drive.
The most recent report of a prowler came in yesterday morning.
But Waterloo Regional Police Spokesperson Olaf Heinzel tell 570 News, this isn’t the first time there have been reports of a prowler snooping around in that area – similar incidents started popping up last summer, “Residents reported seeing an individual in their backyards, very briefly, and in some cases, appearing to be looking towards the house or towards the inside the house.”
Police are reminding residents to make sure their home is secure, “The important thing is to take normal precautions. Make sure their property is properly secure…the doors and windows are locked. Using security lighting is also helpful.”
And he says if you see the prowler, to call police immediately.
“We’ve had no incidents at this point that would indicate that this person is attempting to harm anyone, but certainly it would be disconcerting for people to think someone is just walking around their neighbourhood. We’re trying to determine who this is of course, and why they’re doing what they’re doing.”
