Investigators are working to identify remains found in a house destroyed by fire outside Plattsville.
Oxford OPP Constable Stacey Culbert says an autopsy was scheduled for today but she couldn’t say when it would be complete.
There have been several reports that the house was owned by Cambridge doctor Ron Gingrich and his wife Lois. Culbert would not confirm that, saying only, “It’s continuing to be an investigation, as we get new information about the occupants or about the homeowners or anything to do with the identification, then those will be released when appropriate.”
570 News spoke with an official from the Grandview Medical Centre on Hespeler Road, who confirmed that Gingrich worked there until June of 2009 when he retired. They say he continued to make regular visits to the clinic until last August.
Investigators from the Ontario Fire Marshal’s Office and the OPP Forensic Identification Team were on scene again today.
The blaze broke out Monday morning at a home located off Township Road 12.
