It’s Winter

Winter officialy arrived this morning, but 570 News Weather Specialist John Wilson says it’s winter in name only. “Winter has arrived. It stole in at 30 minutes after midnight this morning. You sure won’t know it’s winter, not with 4 degree temperatures and chance of rain showers this afternoon. There is very little chance for any kind of snow for a white Christmas. There’s a chance of some flurries tonight and Christmas Day – but otherwise there’s nothing. I’m pretty sure we’ll have a green Christmas, and there’s usually a 50/50 chance any given year that we will,” says Wilson.

It being the winter solstice, today will be the shortest day in terms of daylight.  After today, the days get longer.

There are some events this evening to mark the longest night of the year.  The Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery, THEMUSEUM and the Canadian Clay & Glass Gallery are all staging activities tonight from 6 until 11.
