Murphy cut again by Team Canada

Ten OHL players are on Canada’s 2012 World Junior Hockey Championship team, but
Kitchener Rangers defenceman Ryan Murphy is not one of them.

He was one of the final 13 cuts on Wednesday morning.

Murphy was also one of the final cuts in 2011.

“I’ll be back next year, may be, and hopefully make the team then.” Murphy told reporters in Calgary.

“May be I didn’t have to change my game, may be I just had to be aware of other aspects of my game.” said Murphy.

Sportnet’s CHL columnist, Patrick King was one of the many surprised that Murphy was left off the team.

“Everyone who’s seen him or knows about his game, knows he’s (Murphy) such a dynamically gifted puck rushing defenceman who can create so much offence for a team.” said King.

“Murphy even said himself he left something to be desired (about his play at selection camp).”

But, the Kitchener connection of Tanner Pearson and Mark Scheifele did make the team.

Both are also teammates on the Barrie Colts.

Pearson currently leads the league in scoring with 66 points.
