9:00am In July of last year, Defence Minister Peter McKay used a Canadian Forces search-and-rescue helicopter to pick him up from a remote fishing camp, and then jumped on a private Challenger jet to make an announcement in London. McKay said that he took part in a search-and-rescue demonstration, but leaked emails show that it was all just to save the minister two extra hours of traveling, at a cost of over $32,000 just for the lift from the helicopter.
