Conestoga College opens new facility

Conestoga College has added to its already impressive Health Sciences Program in a big way.
John Tibbits, the President of Conestoga College tells 570News that today is the Grand Opening of a brand new, 70-thousand square foot Health Sciences Centre, just south of the 401, near the Doon Campus.
Tibbits says the new facility will add to an already impressive nursing program.
“In addition there’s a whole series of respiratory technology to dietetic technician to offering public health, physiotherapy assistant, paramedic, advance paramedic. Really a wide range of programming.”
The new facility will put students into real life situations that would normally be handled by seasoned professionals.
“With simulation you can expose them to much more sophisticated and a greater variety of situations than you would in a regular hospital.”
On top of all this, Tibbits says that the new facility will allow for many new seats in the Health Sciences area.
“It’s going to allow us to double the number of students that we are educating in the health sciences training area. We are going to be able to offer training in a more sophisticated fashion.”
Tibbits says the facility was in the making for two years, and has been completed on time and on budget. The new facility is located south of the 401 near the Doon Campus.
