It’s easy to shop online or drive to the States to save a buck on your holiday shopping.
But local businesses are woven into the fabric of our community and they need our support.
That’s why Rogers Kitchener Radio Group, which includes 570 News, CHYM 96.7 and KIX 106, is reminding you to shop at home.
General Manager Mike Collins points to the community work local businesses do to support local charities, arts organizations and sports teams on top of employing us. For those reasons it’s important to support them back.
“I think so much of it is just to have an awareness that there is an impact to our actions.”
Collins says that isn’t limited to so called ‘Mom and Pops’ businesses, “multinational businesses that are here support us through employment. they employ family members, colleagues and neighbours and that’s just as important. It’s important that those stores do well.
Collins says it’s now “more important than ever,” that we think about supporting local businesses. “At the end of the day the last 6 or 7 months in the local retail community have been tough .”
“We have to think about the impact of our actions of not supporting local businesses.”
