Overnight parking exemption changes

With the holiday season approaching, overnight parking exemptions may become a necessity in your household.
Mary George, Manager of Licensing & Standards, City of Waterloo says a new system of overnight parking exemption well make things easier.
“We used to allow 18 exemptions per calendar year per address and now we are allowing 10 exemptions per license plate.”
She says this will be easier to call in or go to the cities website to register their vehicle.
“We want to make sure if somebody moves out half way through the year, the new owner or tenant will also have a chance at some of these exemptions as well.”
George says this is the natural way of improving the system; making it user friendly, hassle free and just simply put – quick and easy.
It will be affective January 1st, 2012 if all goes well.
Other Bylaw changes coming in the new year include new property standards Bylaw and a new lot maintenance Bylaw.
