Ryan Murphy hit to the head

The Rangers got the win, but lost star defensman Ryan Murphy to a hit to the head last night.

Ranger Coach and GM Steve Spott says he’s not sure where they go from here and he’s disgusted.

“I can tell you we have a world class player, maybe the best offensive defensman in the country, and he could be out for an extended period of time and for what?” Spott says.

Spott adds that this could affect Murphy’s chances at Christmas, referring to the World Junior tournament.

The hit came from Tom Kuhnhackl behind the Rangers net in the second period of last nights game against the Niagara Ice Dogs.

No word on whether Murphy suffered a concussion.
