What is billed as an “upscale investment” has been officially announced at a ground breaking ceremony in Cambridge.
A 30 million dollar independent and assistive living residence, called Dunfield Cambridge, at Saginaw Parkway and Light Drive in Cambridge will house 145 residents.
Cambridge Mayor Doug Craig told 570 News it’s a high-end residence, “they have very high standards, they take great care and they support the seniors that are there. People are going to be very pleased by the quality of care and the type of lifestyle that is being offered to the senior population.”
Construction on the 1, 900 square metre building is set to begin next month and will continue through April 2013. It will create about 75 jobs once complete and 200 to 300 construction jobs.
The constructor is Waterloo-based Melloul-Blamey and their VP of project development, Jeff Shantz told 570 News they’re excited as a local builder, “to give the local construction community another opportunity with how things have tightened up a little bit. A project of this magnitude being a great opportunity for the local trades to participate.”
