Cab companies react to stabbing

Regional Police say the suspect in an early morning taxi driver stabbing near King and University in Waterloo was not a passenger.
This has the top brass from one of the local cab companies talking about driver safety.
United Taxi President David Byers said if someone comes up to the drivers side instead of the passenger side, to “roll your window down only a little bit.”
He tells his drivers that at night time, to use their interior lights, get a good look at the passengers and talk to them, “try to chat them up a little bit and if they seem a little suspicious, we have ways of having our office follow our cars. If (the driver) feels a little uncomfortable, they push a button and we follow them on GPS.”
Police aren’t releasing the name of either the company or the driver who got hurt.
That driver sustained stab wounds to the neck from a knife and has since been released from hospital.
Police describe the suspect as white, and between 6′ foot and 6′ foot 3″. He was wearing a black t-shirt, black sweater and a thick silver chain.
