Oktoberfest R.I.D.E Stats

The Oktoberfest R.I.D.E. statistics are in.

This year Regional Police had 24 R.I.D.E. programs, compared to 15 last year.

Police Spokesperson Alana Holtom said the numbers are a little bit “tough to tell” as far as results go, “because although we had fewer impaired charges we did have a few more three and seven day suspensions.” This year Police issued 1 impaired charge, that is less than last years total of 3.  There have been 15 3-day suspensions, versus 9 in 2010 and 1 7-day suspension, versus 0 in 2010.

While there were more R.I.D.E. programs, fewer cars were checked. Holtom attributes that to traffic, “it depends on how many cars are coming through, we do set up at check-points where we are targeting more cars and more traffic. We set up at points where individuals might be leaving fest-halls and that sort of thing, it just appears to have been less busy on our roads this year.”
