Great day for a parade

Over 150,000 people are expected to line King Street from Uptown Waterloo through downtown Kitchener for today’s Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest Thanksgiving Day Parade.

It kicks off at 8:30 at King and Erb in Waterloo and makes its way along King to Madison in Kitchener.

The weather is perfect, so the crowd could be a recorder breaker, as people take in scores of floats, bands and a lot more.

For the first time in the parade’s 41 year history you can also text your vote for the newly created People’s Choice Float.

To text, just type in the code which you will find on all sides of the floats.
As well, a reminder, the Onkel Hans Food Drive is taking place today as volunteers will be collecting non-perishable food items along the parade route.
