Over 150,000 votes were cast and the winners of Ontario’s Sexiest Candidate have been announced.
Ontario’s sexiest candidates are Lori Halloway, a Liberal candidate in Dufferin-Caledon and Nik Spohr, an NDP candidate from Halton.
Creator Zach Bussey tells 570 News, the reaction has been fantastic, “We were able to connect people to politics in a simple way. I received emails and even text messages, twitter messages saying ‘Hey you know what, thank you so much for doing that, I’m actually going to vote, I’ve found my candidate, now I’ve actually read and learned about them, now I’m actually going to vote for them.'”
He’s not sure if there will be another Sexiest Candidate “From 30,000 unique visitors, 23% of them clicked on links to learn about candidates, so that’s a pretty high rate of people who are interested in learning more about candidates. So if that means that people are consuming politics and they’re actually getting involved in it, then that would be a good enough reason to continue doing it.”
Bussey, who he himself is an aspiring politician, says he’d be ok with making the sexy list, “Maybe one day, maybe 2015, I put my name in the hat…but we’ll see at this point.”
