What the polls say

On the eve of the provincial election, separate polls are painting different pictures of the political landscape.
The latest poll by Angus Reid for the Toronto Star has the Tories ahead of the Liberals by 3 percentage points at 36% to 33%. The NDP trails at 26%.
However, an Abacus survey for the Toronto Sun has the Liberals ahead by the same 3 percentage point margin – with the NDP at 24%. These numbers suggest a minority government for either party.
But, an IPSOS Reid poll that was released last night shows the Liberals headed for a majority government with a 10 point lead. McGuinty’s Liberals were at 41%, the Tories were at 31% and the NDP at 25%.
The question becomes – what’s the bottom line on the polling picture.
What we do know is that 2 polls put the Liberals ahead – one which had them leading by 3 points while the other had them up by 10. The third poll puts the Hudak Tories out front by 3 percentage points, so basically you have to take it for what it is.
