RIM responds to PlayBook rumour

Research In Motion has released a statement on the report it is halting production of its’ PlayBook.
“RIM doesn’t typically comment on rumours, but any suggestion that the BlackBerry PlayBook is being discontinued is pure fiction. RIM remains highly committed to the tablet market.” the statement said.
It follows a report from Collins Stewart chip analyst, John Vinh.
“We believe RIM has stopped production of its PlayBook and is actively considering exiting the tablet market,” Vihn wrote in a note.
Vihn says Quanta Computer laid off a significant number of workers last week at a factory focused on producing the PlayBook.
