A long drive home

It was a nightmare drive home on Thursday around the Region for a number of reasons – more specifically a number of transport trucks.
The most dangerous of the situations was a transport truck fire on the Eastbound 401 approaching Franklin which was only allowing the left lane to get through for quite a stretch of time. The drive from Homer Watson became very slow, the flyover turned into a parking lot and the Westbound lanes of the 401 also slowed to a crawl through the area.
Also – on the Westbound 401 just past Highway 8, right at the Grand River bridge, a different truck lost its load of wood and wound up blocking the left lane. As a result there was a backup on King Street in the right lane approaching the exit.
Then in Cambridge, a stalled truck on the Northbound side of Highway 24 at Beaverdale was causing some major slow downs in both directions.
