Late night fire in downtown Guelph

Guelph Police and Fire are investigating a blaze in the city’s downtown.

It broke out around ten last night in a three storey building at the corner of Gordon and Fountain.

Police say a 20-year-old woman was treated in hospital for smoke inhalation and then released.

The cause remains under investigation and there is no damage figure available.

Police say it appears the blaze broke out in a lower apartment.

City buses were brought in to provide shelter for displaced residents and the Red Cross and Victim Services are assisting in finding alternative housing for the residents.
