The Federation of Canadian Municipalities has released a report on the immigration system, citing a lack of affordable housing, efficient public transit and community services as barriers to the success of new immigrants.
FCM President and Kitchener Councillor Berry Vrbanovic tells 570’s Gary Doyle Show, it’s important for all three levels of government to work together on immigrant settlement issues.
“Canadians are expecting the three orders of government to work better together, we saw how well that can work during the economic stimulus program, and so this is another example where we think better dialogue will work,” he says.
Vrbanovic says Federal investment into affordable housing agreements needs to continue in order to meet the needs of new and long standing Canadians.
