Lions close out stay at Empire with a win

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – It’s over at Empire Field for the BC Lions as they dumped Toronto 28-6. Geroy Simon became the club’s all-time TD leader with 88, after a 33-yard catch from Travis Lulay in the fourth quarter.

Just one day shy of his 36th birthday, Simon hauled in six passes for 117 yards. The touchdown broke running back Willie Fleming’s record, set in the ’60’s.  Running back Tim Brown scored the Leos other major from a yard out early in the second quarter.

Kicker Paul McCallum booted four field goals and has now gone 21 straight without a miss.

The BC defence has not allowed a touchdown in 13 quarters of play. The Leos forced five Argo turnovers and had four sacks.

BC will play West Division leading Calgary next Saturday in southern Alberta. The next home game, versus Edmonton, will be at the new BC Place stadium on Sept. 30.
