A Kitchener man appears in court today facing numerous charges, including second degree murder.
It follows a bizarre incident late Saturday afternoon that ended with another Kitchener man – 34-year-old Brett Kaufman – being struck by a vehicle on Homer Watson at Hanson.
He later died in hospital.
Regional Police believe Kaufman and another man had been involved in an earlier disturbance at the Pioneer Park Plaza in Kitchener and were now travelling in the same vehicle.
Police believe the two men then got into an argument in the yellow 1998 Chevy pick-up truck and when Kaufman got out of the vehicle, he was struck, allegedly by the same vehicle.
In addition to second degree murder, 27-year-old Norman McEachern is also charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous driving causing death.
Police are asking any witnesses to contact either the Homicide Branch or Crimestoppers.
