Standoff Ends in Arrest

A standoff in the Stirling Avenue and Highland Road area of Kitchener has ended in an arrest.

Inspector Greg Lamport tells 570 News, police were contacted at about 6:30 this morning regarding a domestic assault. He says a woman was taken to hospital.

Lamport says police were outside the home where the suspect is believed to be. He adds, “Due to threats of weapons, we’ve contacted our emergency response team to assist with the apprehension of the suspect.”

There are several armed police officers on scene along with a number of police vehicles and the mobile command unit.
