Local foster parents needed

Foster parents are needed in Waterloo Region to provide children with safe homes.
Teresa Trofymowych is a foster adopt recruitment worker with Family and Children’s Services in Waterloo Region, and says there’s an ongoing need of foster families within Waterloo Region.
“At this time we have approximately five hundred children in care and under three hundred foster homes, so the more foster homes we have in Waterloo Region the better we can serve the individual needs of the children,” Trofymowych says.
She says that foster parents are people who can open their doors to a child in need.
“We’re looking for people who are interested in caring for children, who have the time and the understanding of child development, and the willingness to encourage a child’s self esteem and expose them to a lot of opportunities.”
On August the 30th, Family and Children’s Services are holding a foster parent information night that is open to the public.
