Provincial Entrepreneur Funding

The McGuinty government is supporting the VeloCity Program at University of Waterloo with $1, 000 000 and the Entrepreneurship Accelerator Program at Wilfrid Laurier University with $95, 000.

These programs work with students to enhance their entrepreneurial skills and help them develop their ideas and initiative into companies.

Minister of Training, Colleges and Universities and MPP for Kitchener Centre, John Milloy tells 570 News there are a number of great success stories that have come out of these programs, “This will allow them to expand and enhance the programming. We have so many amazing stories here locally of students at both Universities who have taken ideas, transformed them into companies and in turn, into jobs.”

One of those stories is founder of Kik Interactive, Ted Livingston, who had been a part of the VeloCity program.
