It seems no place is immune from bed bugs.
We found that out this past week as St. Mary’s General Hospital in Kitchener had to call in experts to rid the emergency ward of the pests. It’s believed the bed bugs were brought in by a patient.
Michael Heimbach from Abel Pest Control tells 570 News it’s their number one call these days.
He says bed bugs are a growing concern for various reasons, including ineffective control products that are now available, an increase in international travel and a lack of awareness.
He says the key is to act fast if you suspect you have bed bugs.
He gives St. Mary’s Hospital high marks for reacting quickly to contain and eradicate the problem.
