Waterloo based Piller’s is sold

After 54 years of being owned and operated by the Huber family, Piller’s has been sold to Premium Brands, of Richmond, B.C., for nearly 74-million dollars in cash, and nearly two million Premium Brands shares.

Piller’s CEO, Willy Huber Jr., tells 570 News the sale is good news for the Waterloo-based company and its employees, because the transaction will lead to growth as the new company creates a national deli meats platform.  Huber says there will be no layoffs as a result of the sale.  In fact, he says he expects more workers to be hired to accomodate a growth in business.

Piller’s is one of Canada’s leading manufacturers of specialty European deli meats with annual sales of about 180-million dollars and over 600 employees.
