Cities open up cooling centres

Public facilities in Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge have been opened up as cooling centres to help residents beat the heat.
City of Kitchener
All of the community centres, except Bridgeport and the Downtown Community Centre (DCC), will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Bridgeport is closed for renovations, and the DCC is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Breithaupt Centre is open as a cooling centre from 8 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. weekdays, and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.

City of Kitchener aquatic facilities available as cooling centres:
Lyle Hallman Pool is open Monday to Friday 7:30 a.m. to 10:15 p.m.; Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Forest Heights Pool is open Monday to Thursday from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., Fridays from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. The pool is closed on Sunday.
All locations of the Kitchener Public Library can be used for cooling centres. All branches are open: Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.; Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery is open Monday to Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 1-5 p.m.
The Aud is open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Sportsworld Arena is open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.; it is closed Saturdays but open on Sundays from noon to 6 p.m.
Kitchener City Hall is also open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
City of Cambridge
The daily leisure swim at Soper Pool will run on extended hours tomorrow and the Allan Reuter Centre is offering evening options in its air-conditioned facility Thursday through Saturday.
The city is reminding residents that there are a variety of public buildings pools and splash pads to make use of in the extreme heat.

ARENAS AND RECREATION CENTRES
Cambridge community centres, arenas and 50+ centres facilities are available for our citizens to seek relief from the heat and there is potable water available through taps in all locations to fill up the water bottle and stay hydrated. Please note: Programs and rentals may limit access to various locations within the facilities.
City of Waterloo
Residents of Waterloo can seek relief from the heat at the following locations:
– Waterloo City Centre is open Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
– RIM Park is open daily from 6 a.m. to midnight
– Waterloo Memorial Recreation Complex is open daily from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m.
– Moses Springer Community Centre is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
– Albert McCormick Community Centre is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m.
– Adult Recreation Centre is open Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
