The Waterloo Regional Courthouse is on time and on budget. The building will house the region’s two provincial court buildings and the Superior Court.
The 7 storey building, bordered by Frederick,Weber, Scott and Duke Streets, has it’s major concrete finished and the structural steel is started.
570’s Mike McCulloch reports…
Mandy Downes, Spokesperson with Industry Ontario, told 570 News that the mechanical and electrical finishes are now being installed, “their working on piping and duct work and conduit and those sorts of things and they’re moving up the building. As they continue to build new floors, they’re starting on the exterior enclosure such as the windows and the exterior walls on the lower floors.”
Downes adds that EllisDon, the contractor building the structure, is doing a great job and that Industry Ontario has, “signed a contract with the constructor and it guarantees price and schedule certainties.”
The 420,000 square-foot building with 30 courtrooms, 38 judicial rooms and eight conference settlement rooms is set to be completed in early 2013.
