Catholic Board budget

The Waterloo Catholic District School Board has passed its budget for the upcoming school year.

It’s a balanced budget worth over $246-million, but getting there did not come without some pain.

An expected funding shortfall, due in part to declining enrolment, has forced the board to cut 39 educational assistants and child and youth workers in September.

This morning’s Record reports it could have been worse.

The board shifted up to $770,000 in reserve funds to save 18.5 jobs.
