The widening of Weber

Another step forward for the proposed widening of Weber Street in Kitchener.

CTV reports the Region’s Planning and Works Committee has approved a preliminary plan that would see the street widened to four lanes from College to Guelph Streets.

The plan, valued at $51-million, would also see the construction of an underpass for vehicle traffic at the railway tracks near Victoria.

The goal is to ease traffic congestion.

If all goes as planned, work could begin in 2014 – perhaps sooner – and take two years to complete.
