Oktoberfest wants Bieber

KITCHENER, Ont. – Kitchener-Waterloo’s Oktoberfest wants to get Justin Bieber to be the 2011 parade marshal.

Mark Kreller, executive director of Oktoberfest, says since Bieber comes from nearby Stratford it would be just like coming home.

A cover of Bieber’s hit song “Baby” was posted to the Operation Bieber Facebook page to try and attract his attention.

Oktoberfest has tried to attract high profile marshal’s before.

In 2010, the festival tried to lure Ellen DeGeneres to the event, after a photo of a float was featured on her popular TV show.

That bid didn’t work, so organizers are turning their attention closer to home.
