Norovirus outbreak over

Good news for the St. Mary’s General Hospital, which has just announced that the Norovirus outbreak is over.

The Outbreak had affected 11 patients and 10 staff on the 5th floor of the hospital. There are no patients with symptoms and all affected staff have recovered.

Patient and visiting regulations have now returned to normal. Dr.  William Ciccotelli, (Medical Director of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology at St. Mary’s and Grand River hospitals) says “Despite norovirus being highly contagious, our dedicated staff were able to bring this outbreak under control very quickly.”

In a news released, Dr. Williams also thanked the community for respecting restrictions during the outbreak.
