Equinox Summit: future energy

In the year 2030, where will the energy for your home and business come from?

That question is the theme of the Equinox Summit at the Perimeter Institute in Waterloo this week, with leading scientists and community leaders from around the world to work out an answer.

The event is hosted by the non-profit Waterloo Global Science Initiative, a partnership between the Perimeter Institute and the University of Waterloo.

It began yesterday with opening comments by Governor General David Johnston, a former president of the University.

Johnston compared the Summit to the Olympics in terms of how it could be a game-changer.

Day 1 at the Summit then dealt with the idea of a “super battery.”

Today’s talks will focus on emerging energy technologies and the challenges they face to meet global demand.

The Summit is on now until Thursday, and each weeknight TVO’s “The Agenda” will broadcast live from the Perimeter Institute.
