Biggest LRT meetings yet

Tonight is the first of two Public Input Meetings on Rapid Transit being held at Regional Headquarters.

That’s because there are approximately 100 delegations who have signed up wanting to speak to Council on the issue.

Regional Councillor for Kitchener, Jim Wideman will be chairing the meeting.

He tells 570 News each delegate will have 10 minutes to speak, but he hopes not everyone uses the full 10 minutes or they’ll be there until 2:00 in the morning.

He notes that in the past people are quite respectful of time.

Yesterday, the Greater Kitchener Waterloo Chamber of Commerce stated they conditionally support light rail transit.

The first meeting is set for tonight at 6:00, the second for tomorrow, also at 6:00.

Regional Council is set to make their final decision on June 15th, if the process is not delayed by a referendum.
