Open burning by-law

The weather today may not be conducive to having a fire in your yard, but the Waterloo City Fire Department is being proactive.

Knowing nice weather will arrive, it’s issued a reminder to residents about the city’s Open Burning Bylaw.

It says chimineas, patio fireplaces and the burning of yard waste are not allowed within its borders.

The only thing that is allowed is a barbecue for cooking purposes.

The fine for disobeying the bylaw starts at $385.
