Uptown Waterloo parking

The issue of parking in Uptown Waterloo has sparked some merchants in the area to start a petition. They fear the city is considering taking away two-hour free parking at city-owned lots in the area.

This morning’s Record reports, the Uptown Waterloo Business Improvement Area has been talking to the City about changes to parking, but not about ditching the free parking.

Rather it’s reportedly made a pitch to allow shoppers easy access to pay-and-display parking that would allow shoppers to pay for extra parking once the two hours has expired.

No decisions have been made on this issue.
