Weekend crash

Two people are in hospital with serious injuries following a three vehicle crash along the 7-8 in Kitchener.

OPP say just before six last night a Volkswagen travelling westbound crossed the centre median just west of Homer Watson and struck a Mercury Cougar head on.

A third vehicle – a mini van – also ended up crashing, but no one was hurt in that vehicle.

OPP say the drivers of the Cougar and Volkswagen were both taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Bystanders rushed to help free the two from their vehicles, which were smoking at the time.

The highway was closed in both directions for close to four hours.
