It was a tough game 7 for the Kitchener Rangers Monday night at the Aud.
After a scoreless first period, the Whalers netted twice in the second. Rangers captain Gabriel Landeskog got his team on the board with his 6th goal of the series. Jerry D’Amigo tied things up less than 8 minutes later also with his 6th goal.
But it was a tie game for just under 3 minutes as Plymouth put in the go ahead goal at 16:56 of the 3rd period. An empty netter with 2 seconds left made the final 4-2.
The Whalers take the best of 7 series 4 games to 3 and move on to face Owen Sound.
Kitchener managed out-shoot Plymouth 39-33, but Whalers goalie Scott Wedgewood came up big a number of times.
Before the game Rangers fans were a confident bunch, as they should be. The team hadn’t lost (5-0) in a game 7 on home ice since the OHL went to a 7-game playoff format.
