Cause of fire not known

Kitchener fire officials say the cause of a blaze in downtown Kitchener on Sunday morning will go down as undetermined.

The fire caused over $500,000 damage to the Stag Shop and an adjacent building.

Kitchener’s Chief Fire Prevention Officer, Tom Ruggle tells 570 News they suspect the source of the ignition for the fire was an electrical component.

Fire officials are hoping to re-open King Street near the fire scene later today, but
the sidewalk near the scene will remain closed.
