Roadwork Series Pt. 5 – Area Highways

Part 5 of our series on summer roadwork is looking at construction projects on area highways.

Steve McInnis with the MTO tells 570 News they’ll continue work on widening Highway 8 between the Grand River Bridge and Sportsworld. He says this year will see more work on the Grand River Bridge along with additional paving work.

The MTO will also widen part of the 7/8 from West of Fischer Hallman to East of Courtland. It will go from four lanes to six and they’ll add a median barrier and make some drainage improvements.

They’ll also wrap up work on the 401 between Woodstock and Cambridge.

McInnis says there will also be several smaller projects along the 401, Highway 7 and Highway 85. He says they’ll typically include some patch work and bridge rehabilitation and the work will usually take place at night to avoid causing traffic problems.
