No further discipline for hit

TORONTO – The National Hockey League says no further discipline is planned against Boston defenceman Zdeno Chara for his hit on Montreal forward Max Pacioretty.

Pacioretty is still in hospital being treated for a severe concussion and a cracked vertebra.

Check out the following report from Sportsnet…

Meanwhile, the federal minister responsible for sport is telling the N-H-L’s brass to wake up.

Gary Lunn says the league should take action, telling The Canadian Press the hit was cringe inducing, and that the league must put out a clear message that it was unacceptable.

He commented after the league said it would neither fine nor suspend the six-foot-nine Bruins defenceman.

Montreal police, meantime, are asking Habs fans to stop calling them to try filing criminal complaints against Chara.

They say their emergency lines have been inundated with calls.
