City may pay for pothole damage

The city may pick up the tab for damage to your vehicle caused by potholes.
To make a claim, send an e-mail or letter to the City Clerk, containing information like where and when it happened and the extent of damage.
Phil Hewitson is the Director of Transportation for the City of Waterloo. He doesn’t guarantee any claims going through, as it depends on if the city was at fault.
Hewitson says they try to fix potholes as soon as they are made aware of them, although weather conditions can make that difficult.
The city is allowed a reasonable amount of time to get any repairs finished.
A new tire can cost up to $300, and rims cost about $100 to replace.
