A rapid transit public consultation was held last night — giving Waterloo Region residents a chance to weigh in on the issue.
The hour-long webcast featured four panelists who answered questions from the public. Inquiries included the cost to taxpayers, senior accessibility — and questions about the future.
Manager of Rapid Transit Engineering, Darshpreet Bhatti says consistency is key and that they are looking at something that is sustainable into the future.
The project would be funded by Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge. Property taxes from the townships would not be used.
The panel said Cambridge residents would benefit greatly and growth in ridership could see LRT put into the city.
More public consultations will be held this month. The issue goes back to council April 12th.
