Possible hate crime?

The University of Waterloo campus police have launched a criminal investigation after anti-female posters were placed around campus, and sent to faculty members by email.
The sender of the email pretended to be the University President. But President Feridun Hamdullahpur announced yesterday that “of course, neither I nor any of my colleagues would support such a thing.”
Hamdullahpur also noted that the fake e-mail was sent from a gmail account.
The posters at the core of the police investigation featured a large picture of Marie Curie and a nuclear bomb on the right hand side. The message stated that women should not be leading men, referring to Marie Curie as ‘the mother of the nuclear bomb.’
Ellen Rethore, Communications and Public Affairs Associate Vice President tells 570News, “this is a rare occurrence at the university of Waterloo…We are taking it very seriously.”
The posters originally started cropping up during student elections last week. They were placed over female candidates who were running in the election.
