Homeowners in the City of Waterloo will pay about $18 more this year on their property tax bill.
The 2011 operating budget was passed yesterday and represents an increase of 1.9% over last year.
Councillor Karen Scian tells today’s Record it’s a “status quo budget.”
This figure does not include an increase in water and sewer rates which will boost the increase the tax bite to over $70 per household.
Kitchener, meantime, is holding a public input session tonight for its draft budget.
The proposed tax increase is also 1.9%, not including a hike in the stormwater fee.
It’s taking place in the council chambers at City Hall starting at 7.
