A Public School Board official says a teacher at Queen Elizabeth School broke the rules when she left a 9-year old boy with special needs behind after a class skating trip.
The Record reports the boy’s family is demanding the teacher and school principal be fired.
Meanwhile, the boy’s father, Kevin Mullins has withdrawn his son from class and reportedly accuses the school of trying to cover the incident up. The boy was apparently left at an outdoor skating rink in a park near Homer Watson Boulevard.
His father says the teacher left him there because he refused to go back to school.
Superintendent of Education Greg Bereznic tells the newspaper the way the situation was handled was not appropriate but did not say if or how the teacher in question was reprimanded.
