In an interview with ABC News, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said he would step down now but fears chaos in Egypt.
Meantime, Foreign Affairs Minister Lawrence Cannon has called in Egypt’s ambassador to express his grave concerns about the targetting of foreign journalists covering the unrest in Cairo.
Cannon says he’s urging the Egyptian government to ensure that the army guarantee their safety.
Two Globe and Mail journalists were taken into custody by the Egyptian military today but released after about three hours.
Reporters from the U-S, the U-K, Greece and several other countries have also been detained or beaten as they cover continuing battles between pro- and anti-government protesters.
