Kitchener Rangers draft pick Jerry D’Amigo will be joining the team for the rest of this season.
The 6th round draft pick of the Toronto Maple Leafs had 14 points in 41 games with the AHL’s Toronto Marlies this year.
It’s expected the 19-year-old will be in the line-up Friday night when the Rangers host the Whalers. 570 News has the pre-game at 7-pm.
The Rangers took a chance on D’Amigo in 2007, selecting him in the 12th round of the OHL Priority Selection.
D’Amigo signed a three-year entry level contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs in August of 2010.
Kitchener Rangers General Manager and Head Coach, Steve Spott had this to say, “We are grateful for the opportunity to work with Jerry. We would like to thank the Toronto Maple Leafs for their confidence in our program and we look forward to helping Jerry attain his career goal of playing in the National Hockey League. This is positive news for our organization and city. I know our fans will look forward to welcoming Jerry to our community.”
