Child porn bust

A Waterloo man and Wilmot township teen are among seven people facing charges following a child porn sweep in southern Ontario.

Waterloo Regional Police seized several computers from two homes yesterday, all of them containing child porn.

A 17-year-old who can’t be named and 35-year-old Marc Rempel were arrested for allegedly possessing and distributing the material.

They were later released on bail.

Five other arrests were made in London, of people aged 15 to 64.

Some of the accused are charged with luring and producing child pornography.

In total, 47 charges were laid in connection with the joint investigation, involving regional police, London police and the OPP.

The investigation was part of an ongoing provincial strategy to protect children from becoming victims.

Since 2006, more than 1,300 people have been charged.
